CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE

Dear All, a brief update on the COVID-19 situation. To date, over 3,5 million cases and 246.600 deaths have been reported globally.
In Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Health has done over 11,600 screening and diagnostic tests and identified 34 positive cases, including 4 deaths and 5 recoveries. Harare and Bulawayo are the provinces currently most affected, with 74% of the detected cases. Other cases were reported from Matabeleland North, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland West provides.
As announced by the President, the lockdown has been extended by 14 days from May 4. The new rules allow the reopening of industries and the formal economic sector, subject to the mandatory testing for employers and employees. Schools and churches remain closed, as do pubs and gyms.
Moreover, an exemption letter is no longer needed to go out but it is mandatory to wear a mask (single-use or reusable). In this regard, we remind you all to use the mask with due care and precautions:
– Before putting it on, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
– Cover mouth and nose, making sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask
– Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
– Remove the mask from behind, without touching the front of mask
– If single-use, replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp, do not re-use it and discard it immediately in a closed bin; clean your hands with soap and water
We remind you that the most effective way to protect yourself and others against COVID-19 is the proper and correct application of preventive measures, such as frequent hand washing with soap and water and social distancing.
